Welcome to AreteSphere

Own the room before you enter it!

In an increasingly digital world, where technology shapes how we work, learn, and connect, meaningful human communication has become more important than ever. However, for many, fear of judgment, pressure, anxiety, and limited opportunities to practice in a safe environment make public speaking and important conversations a constant challenge.

AreteSphere is an immersive communication training platform that offers a psychologically safe space to practice challenging real-world situations. Through realistic simulations, users can prepare for job interviews, presentations, difficult conversations, networking events, and other important interactions at their own pace. By experiencing these situations before facing them in real life, users can gradually manage anxiety, strengthen their communication skills, and build lasting confidence.

Inspired by the ancient Greek concept of aretē, the pursuit of excellence through the realization of human potential, AreteSphere believes that confident communication is more than a professional skill. It is a foundation for stronger relationships, better collaboration, and greater opportunities to create a positive impact in the world.

Explore VR Scenarios

How It Works?

1. Choose your goal and your immersive setting

Select what you would like to practice, such as delivering a presentation, preparing for an interview, or defending an academic project, for example. Available environments include an office, classroom, auditorium, theatre, or quiet preparation room.

2. Personal Check-in

Enter the White Room before beginning your scenario, indicate your current anxiety and confidence levels (this helps you reflect on how your emotional state changes through practice). Take a moment to breathe, review your objective, and start only when you feel ready.

3. Adjust the difficulty

Begin alone or practice with a small and supportive audience. As your confidence develops, you can introduce larger audiences, questions, interruptions, or more demanding situations.

4. Receive supportive feedback

After the session, review clear and respectful feedback on aspects such as clarity, speaking pace, pauses, and structure. Gain confidence, practice again, and own the room.

Break the Anxiety Loop, Build Lasting Confidence

Most people believe they feel anxious because they have to give a presentation, attend an interview, or speak in front of others. Research in cognitive behavioral psychology suggests something different. Anxiety is often maintained not by the event itself, but by a self reinforcing cycle of thoughts, emotions, attention, and behaviors.

This idea was first described by psychologists David M. Clark and Adrian Wells in their influential cognitive behavioral model of social anxiety. Their work explains that performance anxiety persists because people become trapped in an information processing loop that unintentionally reinforces fear before, during, and after every speaking experience.

The Performance Anxiety Loop

Before the event

The cycle begins long before speaking. People imagine everything that could go wrong, overestimate the likelihood of failure, and underestimate their own abilities. These thoughts increase physical symptoms such as muscle tension, rapid breathing, and increased heart rate.

During the event

Attention shifts inward. Instead of focusing on the audience and the conversation, the speaker continuously monitors their own voice, body language, and anxiety symptoms. Small physical sensations are interpreted as signs of failure, making communication feel even more difficult.

After the event

Once the interaction ends, the mind often continues replaying the experience. People focus on perceived mistakes, ignore positive moments, and reinforce the belief that they performed poorly. This makes the next speaking situation feel even more threatening, completing the cycle.

AreteSphere seeks to break the performance anxiety loop by supporting users before, during, and after each communication experience. The White Room, emotional check-in, and breathing support reduce anticipatory anxiety, while gradual exposure and adjustable difficulty shift attention toward communication rather than self-monitoring. Afterward, clear and respectful feedback replaces negative assumptions with objective reflection. Through repeated practice, AreteSphere helps transform avoidance into preparation, fear into familiarity, and self-criticism into confidence.

 Emotional Safety

A human-centred approach to confidence

At any moment you can:

  • Re-enter the white room

  • Pause your session

  • Adjust the difficulty level

  • Restart a scenario

  • Take a breathing break

  • Leave whenever you want

Technology should adapt to people, not the other way around.
